There are a plethora of ways to keep up to date with the journal literature in your subject area - a few alerting sites you might want to investigate are listed below.

• TicTocs - a journal alerting service that covers hundreds of journals from different publishers http://www.tictocs.ac.uk/
• Zetoc - a journal alerting service from the British Library. Go to http://zetoc.mimas.ac.uk/ and click on Alerts
• PubCrawler - an alerting service for PubMed and Genbank http://pubcrawler.gen.tcd.ie/
• ScienceDirect also gives you the opportunity to set up alerts to the journals it contains . Go to http://www.sciencedirect.com/ and click on the Alerts link
• Use the Web of Science to create journal and search alerts. Go to http://isiknowledge.com/wos Sign in to create a profile and you can then create your journal alerts and search alerts
